What is a laboratory school?
The Fishback Center for Early Childhood Education Kindergarten provides a setting in which excellence in education theory and developmentally appropriate practice can be observed, studied, and practiced by teacher candidates and other pre-service school professionals.
Where is it located?
The SDSU Kindergarten is located on the first floor of Pugsley Center on the South Dakota State University Campus in Brookings, SD.
How do I enroll my child?
The enrollment for the Fishback Center for Early Childhood Education Kindergarten is considered a parent’s choice alternative placement for the Brookings School District. Families who are interested in enrolling their child should indicate this choice during kindergarten screening in the spring of the year. Is there tuition?
Because the Fishback Center for Early Childhood Education Kindergarten Program is a collaborative effort with the Brookings School District, there is no tuition for the program.
Is transportation provided?
Given it is considered a parent’s choice alternative placement, there is no school bus service. Transportation is the responsibility of the parents.
Is lunch available?
Hot lunch is available through the Brookings School District meal program.
What about inclement weather?
When inclement weather occurs, the kindergarten follows the Brookings School District.
